PHYSICAL QUANTITIES & MEASUREMENT | INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICS & BRANCHES OF PHYSICS | CHAPTER 1 | 9TH CLASS PHYSICS

PHYSICAL QUANTITIES & MEASUREMENT INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICS & BRANCHES OF PHYSICS EXPLAINED IN URDU/HINDI CHAPTER 1 9TH CLASS PHYSICS WITH EXAMPLES.

Man has always been inspired by the wonders of nature. He has always been fond of seeking and knowing the hidden truths and realities of nature. He continued doing observations, experiments and here consequently here we are, in the 21th century. Yep! It’s amazing to be in the era of technology.
  • Science: The knowledge gained through observations and experiments is called Science.

The word ‘Science’ has been derived from the Latin word ‘Scientia’ which means ‘knowledge’.
Upto 18th century, the study of material objects were called Natural Philosophy. As knowledge going vast, the Natural Philosophy was divided into two main classes:
  • Physical Sciences: It was subjected to study about non-living things.
  • Biological Sciences: It was subjected to study about living things.

In 9th century, Physical Sciences were divided into more five branches; Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Geology and Meteorology,
  • Physics: Physics deals with the study of matter, energy and relation between them.

What is matter? Matter is everything which possesses some mass and occupies some volume.  What is energy? Energy is basically ability to do work. In Physics, work is defined with the motion of matter.

We are living in the technology era. From waking up in the morning to going on the bed for sleep, even when we are sleeping, we are using instruments, equipments and machinery as well. All of these instruments work on the basic principles of Physics. For example, when we concern with refrigerator, we actually are dealing with Physics. This is because refrigerator works upon the principles of Thermodynamics, which is an important branch of Physics. Similarly when we go somewhere and use vehicles, we take help of Physics because a vehicle is made upon the principles of Mechanics which is also a fundamental branch of Physics.
  • Branches of Physics: Here are a few branches of Physics.

Mechanics: It is the study of motion of objects, its causes and effects.

Heat: It deals with the nature of heat, modes of transfer and effects of heat.

Light (Optics): It is the study of physical aspects of light, its properties, working and use of optical instruments.

Sound: It deals with the physical aspects of sound waves, their production, properties and applications.

Electricity and Magnetism: It is the study of the charges at rest and in motion, their effects and their relationship with magnetism.

Atomic Physics: It is the study of the structure and properties of atoms.

Nuclear Physics: It deals with properties and behavior of nuclei the particles within the nuclei.

Plasma Physics: It is the study of Production, properties of the ionic state of matter – the fourth state of matter.

Geophysics: It is the study of internal structure of Earth.

  • Applications of Physics: Here are some applications of Physics in our daily life.

In our daily life, we hardly find a device where Physics is not involved. In every aspect of life, Physics is involved today. All the means of transportation, like car, train and aero plan etc, are made upon basic principles of Physics. Similarly all the means of communication like radio, television, mobile phone etc, are also made by studying fundamental laws and principles of Physics. All the home appliances like air conditioner, vacuum cleaner, microwave oven and electric fans, washing machines etc, all these work on the principles of Physics. Electricity is the most obvious example of this. Therefore, development and progress in the field of Physics has made our life very comfortable and easy. It has also contributed so much in the development of Science and Technology

We know that everything which has some advantages contains some disadvantages also. Progress in Science and Technology can go to destruction through atomic wars. So this is upon us how we take advantage of Science.

COMPLETING SQUARE | SOLVE QUADRATIC EQUATIONS BY COMPLETING SQUARE | 10TH CLASS MATHEMATICS

SOLUTION OF QUADRATIC EQUATIONS BY COMPLETING SQUARE METHOD EXPLAINED IN URDU/HINDI 10TH CLASS MATHEMATICS

SOLUTION OF QUADRATIC EQUATIONS BY COMPLETING SQUARE:

·         In this method here are a few steps to follow:
i)                    First of all make the coefficient of x2 ‘1’.
ii)                  Take the constant ‘c’ to the right hand side of the quadratic equation.
iii)                Now multiply the coefficient of ‘x’ by ‘1/2’ and then square.
iv)                Add that squared term to the both sides of the equation.
v)                  Simplify the equation as much as possible.
vi)                Take square root of the both sides of equation.
vii)              Simplify to possible extent and find values of variable.
viii)            Write solution set.

Example:-        Solve the equation by completing square method.
                        x2 – 3x – 4 = 0

Firstly, we have to make coefficient of x2 ‘1’ which is already ‘1’.

Now, take the constant term to the right hand side of the equation.
                        x2 – 3x = 4

In this step, we are to multiply coefficient of ‘x’ b by ‘1/2’.

As we know     a = 1, b = -3, c = -4

So,       b x 1/2 = -3 x 1/2 = -3/2

Squaring,         (-3/2)2  and then adding (-3/2)2 to the both sides of the equation.

                          x2  - 3x + (-3/2)2  = 4 + (-3/2)2

Here we see that on the L.H.S of the equation, a complete square is being formed .

As we know (a – b)2 = a2 – 2ab + b2 , so by this formula, we see the above equation forming a complete square on the left side.

Therefore,        (x – 3/2)2          =          4 + 9/4

                          (x – 3/2)2          =          16 + 9 /4

                          (x – 3/2)2       =          ± 25/4

                         (x – 3/2)           =          ±5/2

or                                 x          =          3/2 ± 5/2

Here two possibilities may arise, we take either +5/2 or -5/2

So,       x = 3/2 + 5/2                            or                     x = 3/2 – 5/2

x = 8/2 & x = 4                                                or                     x = -2/2 & x = -1\

Therefore, solution set is {-1, 4}

FACTORIZATION | SOLVE QUADRATIC EQUATIONS BY FACTORIZATION | 10th CLASS MATHEMATICS

SOLUTION OF QUADRATIC EQUATIONS BY FACTORIZATION EXPLAINED WITH EXAMPLES IN URDU/HINDI 10TH CLASS MATHEMATICS

·         SOLUTION OF QUADRATIC EQUATIONS BY FACTORIZATION:

In this method here are the few steps to follow:

i)                    Write the quadratic equation in the standard form as
ax2 + bx + c = 0
ii)                  Now multiply ‘a’ and ‘c’ as ‘ac’.
iii)                Factorize the obtained product ‘ac’.
iv)                Take a pair of those digits from factorization of ‘ac’ which add ups to form ‘bx’ and multiply to form ‘ac’.
v)                  Take commons from the obtained equation.
vi)                Again take commons and keep possibly one relation equal to zero.
vii)              Two possibilities of variable to keep equal to zero.
viii)            Keep those relations twice equal to zero and find values of variable ‘x’.

·         Example: Solve the quadratic equation by factorization.
                  3x2 – 6x = x + 20
The standard form of equation is   3x2 – 7x – 20 = 0

Here a = 3, b = -7, c = -20              and ‘ac’ = 3 x (-20) = -60

Possible pairs of -60 are; -30 x 2 , -15 x 4 , -12 x 5 , -10 x 6 , -20 x 3 which if multiply give -60

Nothing of these pairs by combining form -7x but the pair -12x + 5x.

Therefore the equation can be written as
                                                      3x2 -12x + 5x -20 = 0

Taking common as,                                   3x (x – 4) + 5 (x – 4) = 0

Again taking common;                   (x – 4) (3x + 5) = 0

Now there are two possibilities, either x – 4 = 0 or 3x + 5 = 0 because both are multiples of each other.

If  x – 4 = 0          then     x = 4

And if        3x + 5 = 0        then     3x = -5             &         x = -5/3

Therefore the roots of quadratic equation 3x2 – 7x -20 = 0 are ‘-5’ and ‘-5/3’.

The solution set is {-5, -5/3}.

INTRODUCTION TO QUADRATIC EQUATIONS | 10th CLASS MATHEMATICS

Introduction to Quadratic Equations in Urdu/Hindi Chapter 1/ 10th Class Mathematics

  • QUADRATIC EQUATIONS

  • Definition:- An equation which contains the square of unknown (variable) but no higher power is called a Quadratic Equation or an Equation of Second Degree.

  • Standard Form:- If we have a variable ‘x’ the standard form of a quadratic equation is

ax2 + bx + c = 0          a≠0      ……………… (A)
In the above equation, a, b & c are some real numbers. ‘a’ is called coefficient of ‘x2’ , ‘b’ is called coefficient of ‘x’ and ‘c’ is called a constant.
In equation (A), it is given that ‘a’ must not be equal to zero. If we take a = 0, then the equation will be no longer a quadratic equation but a linear equation. So it is necessary to mention that ‘a’ must not be equal to zero. Although a may have negative value as well as positive value.
If a = 0, then
(0)x2 + bx + c = 0
                                    0     +   bx + c = 0
                                                bx + c = 0        (A linear equation)
So,       6x2 + 4x - 3 = 0 & -3x2 + 5x + 2 = 0 are two quadratic equations. Also x2 + 9x = 20 is a quadratic equation but not in the standard form.

  • Pure Quadratic Equation:- In a quadratic equation, if we put b = 0, then the equation reduces as

ax2 + (0)x + c = 0
                                    ax2 +    0   + c = 0
                                               ax2  + c = 0       (A pure quadratic equation)
Thus, 3x2 + 9 = 0 & 5x2 = 30 are pure quadratic equations.

  • From the all above mentioned equations, we can find out the constants a, b & c by comparing these equations with the standard form equation (A).

  • Variable:- A variable is allotted for some specific numeric value and is unknown or changeable. As from its name, it is oriented from the word ‘vary’ which means ‘change’. So variable means ‘changeable.’ It has no fixed or constant value, with time those values may change. Just for instance, if we have a variable ‘x’ in an equation, it may have some specific value but we cannot say that this value is specified to ‘x’ forever. It has some value in this equation and may have some different value in the other. Therefore, a variable does not have a fixed numeric value.
  • Constant:- On the other hand, a constant is specified for a fixed numeric value. Its value does not change with the passage of time. For example, '5' is five today and will be '5' tomorrow. It'll not change its value with time. Also the speed of light is represented by 'c' and c = 3x108ms-1.  Thus this 'c' is a constant having constant value which would never be changed anywhere and anytime. Therefore, a constant has a fixed numeric value.
